Clifton House
Clifton House
An earthquake rebuild, Clifton House was built on an established site elevated high in the hills with amazing views.
The house was redesigned with the same footprint to create a dynamic, social family home with open upper-level living spaces, maximising views and connection to the land. A floating stair embraced by full-length glass makes the stair void seamless and bright, while different framed views in each room creates new perspectives.
A rear deck captures the sun and, again, connects the living spaces to the land, while being sheltered from prevailing winds and maintaining a visual connection through the building to the beach and hills.
Expansive glazing, floating roofs and complementary cladding materials have let the building mould into the existing landscape, appearing to only be lightly touching the land.
